CCM JetSpeed FT2 Skates
Introducing the 2019 CCM JetSpeed FT2 Ice Hockey Skates.
In Europe the JetSpeed FT2 skates have been pre-released in Limited Quantities prior to the full launch later this spring.
Let’s take a look at what the new flagship of the JetSpeed family is all about... Graphically the skates retain the now familiar JetSpeed family appearance with updated graphics on the boot and a new bold red callout on the tongue.
However, the most striking, intriguing and oft asked question on our recent Instagram Stories Q&A was about the holder.
The JetSpeed FT2 skates are the first CCM skates to be shipped with the new SpeedBlade XS Holder. We’ve heard about and seen the development of this holder for a couple of years now, and will be replacing the SpeedBlade 4.0 holder.
What’s special about the SpeedBlade XS holder? This is CCM’s foray into a quick release blade system for their skates. It features CCM's new BladeLock System that enables broken or damaged steel to be replaced on the bench in seconds without tools so players don’t miss a shift.
The BladeLock system consists of a positive-lock mechanism which tightly secures the blade to the holder to help prevent the blade from loosening or accidently disconnecting from the holder. A consistently tightly-secured blade to the holder means that energy transfer from the boot to the holder to the blade is maximized in every stride.
To operate the BladeLock, simply roll the dial until you feel resistance and pull your blade out. Place your new blade into the holder, turn back the dial and you are back in the game.
A premium, oxide-treated blade that helps provide advanced performance, a longer edge life and a higher resistance to corrosion. Features 12% more height than standard blades for better turns and performance.
In the boot itself, CCM have evolved the performance and feel of the one piece boot design. The new LITEFRAME 360 EVO technology is a significant evolution from the previous JetSpeed generation. It offers a great wrap right out of the box, helping to provide maximum energy transfer in each stride. The seamless one-piece boot was developed with no outsole, no stitching and no glue in the high energy-transfer zones, providing players with a fit so close, it becomes a natural extension of their foot.
Direct energy transfer for explosive power and speed.
The FT2 skates feature an updated tongue design highlighted by the bold red callout. CCM have developed an asymmetrical Metatomic Tongue. That’s a fancy name to describe a tongue that better follows and fit the natural shape of your feet. As a result the tongue has a natural fit which can be further dialled in when heat molding the skates. The new Metatomic tongue as is now common on other top of the line skates uses high-density (HD) foams for their protective properties rather than a traditional plastic insert. The HD Foams have the added benfit of reducing the overall weight of the skate and allowing for maximum forward flexion whilst offering maximum protection.
To help improve the overall comfort and durability of the skate, CCM have made improvements to the comfort edge and liner. A larger injected Smooth Contour Pro pad on the collar of the skate provides additional comfort for the high ankle. This additional piece is vital with the stiffness of today’s modern elite skates. Internally, CCM have upgraded the liner to the TotalDri Pro+ liner. This offers elite level moisture management to keep your foot dry and comfortable all game long. An extended zone of DuraZone Anti-Abrasion material on the liner will improve the life of the liner.
As mentioned in the intro, the CCM JetSpeed FT2 skates are currently available in Europe in a limited pre-release. If you want to get a pair prior to the full launch, check them out in store or online whilst stocks last!
