To properly size, measure around the waist and not the hips. Hockey pants are worn slightly higher than your everyday jeans, so be sure to measure the waist.

A properly fitting pant will not restrict the skating stride. Look for the pants to sit at the center of the knee cap when standing. A pant that is much longer will restrict the skating stride, a pant much shorter will expose unprotected areas during game play.
